Exclamation Japanese Money Supply Rises an Annual 2.3% in February

09:26 03/10 (CEP News) Montreal – Data from the Bank of Japan suggests that money supply growth was above forecast in February, expanding 2.3% year-over-year in February. This was above the consensus for no change to the previous month's annual 2.1% increase.

Currency in circulation slowed in February, growing 1.2% year-over-year compared to the previous month's 2.7% increase, while deposit money decline 0.6%, which was faster than the previous 0.2% fall.

Broad liquidity expanded 3.5% year-over-year, in line with forecasts, while January's prior was revised down to a rise of 3.6% from 3.7%.

Bank lending, including trusts, rose 0.8% year-over-year compared to forecasts for a 0.4% increase and the previous month's 0.4% gain. Excluding trusts, lending expanded 0.9% compared to January's 0.5% increase. Adjusted bank lending rose 1.4% year-over-year compared to the previous month's 1.1% gain.
