Angry whether to carry back loss

In year 2006, I have a net section 1256 contracts loss of $4500. [Filed an extension for year 2006]
In year 2005, I had net 1256 contracts gain of $1200.
In year 2005, I had short term capital loss carry over(line 6 of sch D) of $30,000. [Line 14 of sch D is 0].

Given this, Is it wise to Carry back OR Carry forward the section 1256 contract loss? In other words, should this loss be entered in line 6 of form 6781? This is for tax filing year 2006.

I did the math of Carrying back the loss to 2005. It didn't change the amount of tax I owe in year 2005. Because, I already have $30,000 capital loss carryover in 2005 and I can only carry back $1200 in contracts loss from year 2006. I can only deduct $3000 (line 21 of sch D) from the year 2005 income either way(carry back or not). Am I right with my assessment?

Assuming I need to Carry Back, I will have an amended Sch D, 6781, and 1045 for year 2005. Should I fill Sch D(specially line 6, capital loss carry over worksheet) for year 2006 based on the amended Sch D for 2005 OR original Sch D of 2005? Not sure.
