Thumbs up

Marketiva has just launched the funds trading besides forex trading.

Investment funds are offered by various institutions, investment banks, financial firms and other entities, and fund shares are purchased and sold through centralized exchanges or in direct retail sale. Funds are often structured to target specific geographic regions, specific industries or investment styles. Fund investors are typically advised to hold their shares for at least one year to offset initial charges and potential drawdowns in fund share prices. Funds are considered long-term investments and are normally not associated with speculative and day-trading.

Funds trading does not require to have margin requirement. As long as you have sufficient money, you can trade with it. Consider it as shares or unit trust.

For example, if the unit price for the fund is $0.5000

You want to buy 1000 unit, you should have 1000 x $0.50 = $500 in your account.

If the fund's performance is very good and the price is $0.6000, you sell it and obtained $600, thus you gain $100.

If the fund's performance is weak and the price is $0.10, and your net investment value on that fund is only $100. You have unrealised loss of $400.

Unlike forex, your margin is based on quantity and regardless of the price you trade.

Question

What kind of fund can be traded on marketiva's platform? How are these funds priced? Does marketiva guarantee transaction and no default risks?

Exclamation

There are 4 funds currently.

Constantine

Constantine Fund aims to maintain a relatively fixed yield, with possibility of the yield increase or decrease based on performance of the underlying investments. Fund uses surpluses from profitable periods to offset below-yield performance periods. Yield may be negative only in periods when underlying investments suffer losses.

Yangtze

Yangtze Fund is oriented towards investments in companies with operations in China or with significant exposure to China. The fund invests in a broad spectrum of stocks, from small and mid-cap to large, liquid stocks. Fund management team uses comprehensive research methods and fundamental analysis.

Asiasset

Asiasset Fund is oriented towards investments in companies with operations in Asia or with significant exposure to Asia. The fund invests in a broad spectrum of stocks, from small and mid-cap to large, liquid stocks. Fund management team uses comprehensive research methods and fundamental analysis.

Brasillion

Brasillion Fund is oriented towards investments in companies with operations in Brazil or with significant exposure to Brazil. The fund invests in a broad spectrum of stocks, from small and mid-cap to large, liquid stocks. Fund management team uses comprehensive research methods and fundamental analysis.

Usually funds are based on Fund pricing models (e.g. net asset value, preset percentage). Most of the funds are priced using NAV. As you can see in your local unit trust management, NAV is the common method used to determine the price which represents the fair assets of the funds.

There will be no guarantee offered in funds investment by most of the financial institutions in the world. Usually, when you decide to invest or to buy funds, they will give you the prospectus of the funds and you should study well before invest.

You will see this statement in the prospectus " Past performance does not guarantee future results..."

I can see that those bond funds has the risk even their returns are slightly much lower than the funds that invested in major equity markets.
