Japan's revised Jan industrial output down 2.2 pct; worse than initial estimate
TOKYO - Japan's industrial output fell a seasonally adjusted 2.2 percent in January from December, faster than the initial estimate of a 2.0 percent decline, the government said Thursday.
Shipments dropped 1.0 percent in January, compared to the estimate of a 0.9 percent decline announced last month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said.
Inventories fell 1.4 percent, compared to the initial estimate of a 1.3 percent drop.
The production capacity index for factories and mines stood at 94.8, down 0.2 percentage point from the preceding month, while the seasonally adjusted operating ratio slipped 2.8 percentage points to 107.4.
